Sewing Day, Hennad Lilies

When my dad was a little boy, my grandma made him and his brothers and sister all little sailor outfits. When I was a baby I had a sailor dress (not sure if my mom made it?) and so now it's my turn to make a little "Air Force" outfit. Since the fanciest they get is a plain blue suit, I took some of Chris's old BDU's and made some little pants today! I'll make a little matching onsie with a 1950's star and wings appliqued on it and upload pictures once I get that done. But for now, here's the easiest pair of pants I've ever made:

I have always been intimidated by baby clothing, thinking maybe it would be too small to sew effectively, but I had fun making these! My favorite part is how *quickly* they came together, I'm now looking forward to making Baby J. a whole first year wardrobe :)

I also made a dress this week for a friend who was leaving (they left this morning). It's a wrap dress made of an old sheet, I love the little tulips, very Dutch!

It didn't come out perfect in fit but there are a few details that add some charm anyway. Her mum-in-law will be taking it in a bit since she had to take it with her on the plane today.

And at 'work' this week I tried something new with a tattoo, making a henna type design to compliment some cover-up lilies. The flowers will be red, orange and yellow so it should all flow pretty well. I'm anxious to see it completed!

  2. Wow, you're so multitalented. If you had a show about all your crafty stuff, I'd watch it. :)

I made Wyatt fitted diapers out of some of Jason's old desert camo when he was a wee baby. I've kept them around for the boys' dolls and I can't believe he ever fit in them he's so big now.

  3. My tattoo was supposed to look like henna, but the guy said "Brown, no." Then i convinced him it was really what i wanted and i now have a cherry red tattoo. He didn't listen. But this it TIGHT! I absolutely love it.

  4. I think you never really know what the brown will look like on different skins, so that's why I want to see it healed....
